Pictures from the Current Edition

The Rules and Definitions

Rules
The contest is open to anyone. After having signed up to the Legio Pictorum Forum, you just need to paint a chick, take pictures of her and send them by email. The contest ends on December 5th 2010
The Chich Challenge was born to display only female characters. So only females miniatures are accepted. The femininity must be immediately clear, this means that aliens will not be classified as acceptable unless they have clear feminine attributes. So, demonettes might be acceptable, while putrid horrors or spawns will not be. Only single miniatures will be accepted, or, in case of gangs, they must be formed by females only. Pictures displaying gangs with males will not be accepted. In this case please take a picture of the females character(s) only. If it is a diorama, with many different characters, please trim the picture to display the female character(s) only. In case of doubts, please contact the Arbiter. THe paintworks will be displayed with their own authors that will be then immediately known. All miniatures never seen online or displayed after 1st of January 2010 will be acceptable. Peculiar cases will be managed by the Arbiter. For the whole period of Chick Challenge, the miniatures can be participating to any online or real life contests.
A miniature cannot be entered in more than one category, but you can enter as man miniature you want, in as many categories you want.

The Critics vote is totally disjunct from the popular one. The participation to the contest and to the vote is linked to the membership to the Legio Pictorum . Vote expressed by people that is not a member of the Legio will not be taken into account.

Voting Mechanism - Popular Jury
Each person will express his/her vote by using a downloadable table (click here) which will need to be sent as an attachment to chick.vote@yahoo.com.
It is mandatory that: 1) the email comes from the same email address that you used for registering yourself on the Legio Pictorum Forum; and 2) that the subject is exactly "Vote for - Voto per Chick Challenge"; all emails with a different subject will be immediately deleted.

The miniature is identified through the number that is assigned to it and displayed under the entry name, between the A and B link to the pictures.

miniature number

Therefore it is will enough to write one number for each chosen miniature, for example:
Oro/Gold
Argento/Silver
Bronzo/Bronze
21
04
34

The Best of Show will be identified among chosen Golds. It will be therefore enough to put an X in the "Best of Show" column, in correspondence to the section whose Gold is for you the best Gold of the competion. For example:

Sci-Fi
Steampunk
Oro/Gold
Argento/Silver
Bronzo/Bronze
45
64
34
X

In this example then, among all Golds that the person has identified, the Gold for the Category Sci-Fi is considered the Best of Show.

Mechanism by which points are assigned
3, 2 or 1 point will be assigned to the miniatures according to their classification (Gold, Silver, Bronze). The winning miniatures will be the first three ones in the general rank for each category. When the same point is reached for two miniatures, the ranking will go according to the number of Golds, or Silver, or Bronzes, respectively. In case of further deuce, then ex-equo prizes will be assigned.
For the Best of Show, the miniature that has obtained more votes as BoS (not in general). In case of same points amount, the one having the highest general ranking (adding then silvers and bronzes)will be the winning miniature.

The popular jury vote and International vote are disjunct, therefore a miniature, for example, can get a gold (or a silver or a bronze) from both the popular and the international jury or can get a recognition from one jury and not from the other. All combinations are allowed and possible except:

  • Who will win the Best of Show, will not win any other prize; as a consequence of this, the Gold in that category will be given to the next contestant in the rank, and so on for Silver and Bronze;
  • In case of assignement of the Best of Show to the same miniature by both Juries, only the International BoS will be given, while the Popular Jury BoS will be given to the next contestant in the ranking, identified with the above described way.
These rules will ensure that the prizes will be assigned to the greatest number of painters, avoiding this way an excessive concentration of prizes over one painter, despite he or she might deserve it.
In case of discussion or doubt, the Arbiter is the solely person that will clarify the issue and no appeal is foreseen after his decision.
For any doubts on this mechanism, please contact the arbiter, Franciuus

The Legio Pictorum is a large Painters' Community, that in time (it was founded in Nov 2005) made a large number of Italian Painters to grow in their skill, but also allowed them to establish interesting and deep friendships. Many newcomers found the Forum a nice place where to talk about miniatures with no constrains and on top of that, a place where to learn painting techniques from some of the best painters in the Italian panorama.
Please contact DragonPaint for anything related to the Chick Challenge website and Franciuus for any Forum's related info you might need.
